US Launches Pax Silica Alliance to Counter BRICS in AI Supply Chain Race
The US Department of State unveiled Pax Silica, a strategic alliance comprising eight nations with advanced AI ecosystems—Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the Netherlands, Israel, the UAE, the UK, and Australia. The initiative targets vulnerabilities in AI supply chains and serves as a counterweight to BRICS expansion, which recently added Indonesia as its eleventh member.
Under Secretary Jacob Helberg framed the alliance as a response to 'coercive dependencies' in critical tech sectors. The bloc includes corporate heavyweights like Samsung, DeepMind, and ASML, reflecting a concerted effort to secure semiconductor and AI infrastructure.
The December 12 Washington summit signals a tectonic shift in global tech alliances. With BRICS now representing 41% of global GDP, Pax Silica aims to consolidate Western-aligned innovation hubs against what officials term 'single points of failure' in supply chains.
